Merry Christmas!

I'm a little late, but whatever.

On Christmas morning we went to church and I struggled with my uncontrollable 2-year old and my tired yet talkative 8-month old. I really had a hard time; I felt like a bad mother. I'm sorry.

But see, I've been having a hard time all around. Who'd have thunk that when you finally get back on track after a pregnancy scare that your hormones are so out of whack that you can barely control how you feel?

Yeah, you heard read me. I thought I was pregnant. I was denying it for a while, "no, no, I'm just late". But then I admitted defeat, "I guess Katelyn will just sleep on the futon with James, Jacob will be in the crib, and the new baby and I will be on the bed." I just kept thinking about how incredibly difficult fun it would be to have a 3-year old, an 18-month old, and a new born. I was mentally preparing to go under the knife, yet again.

But other than my hormonal-emotional issues, we had a nice Christmas. Everything at church was lovely (except for me). Then we came home and opened presents with my mom and my sister's family. And in the evening, we did this (note the hormone induced stress in my voice):

video

Booya! James gave me a digital video camera for Christmas. It's awesome! It's a digital video camera, a still camera, an mp3 player, an mpeg4 player, and a voice recorder - and it does the dishes too. I love it!

I'm still alive, in case you were wondering.

I have so much to tell you, my online friends. Like how I met Bruce, and how I ran into my old friend Megan, and how I’ve rekindled my love of knitting, how I’m so happy that my husband is back.

But for now I’d like to say (sing it with me now), alakazoo la menchakaroo la bibbity bobbity boo, put ‘em together and what have you got, bibbity bobbity snot!

Stardust – fun fantasy.
Deck the Halls – eh. I don’t know, it was ok, I guess.
Underdog - cute.

Girl time.

It isn't too much fun without James, and everything is a bit harder too. But Saturday was nice. Katelyn and I met Missy at Coffee Care for some coffee (juice for the girl) and knitting.

Missy worked on some slippers and Katelyn worked on an original design by her mother, Diamond Inlaid Scarf.
Katelyn: Let's dance.
Me: Ok (moves head and shoulders to the background music)
Katelyn: No, dance with your mouth.

A Diaper Review

It's true!

At first you buy those expensive diapers...(you even downgrade to the generic expensive diapers)...and then you get over it. And get Luvs.

You live, you learn, and then...you get Luvs.

Pampers - Expensive. Sure they feel soft and velvety, but with the slightest bit of pee the diaper feels full. You end up changing your baby's diaper when it doesn't need to be changed. Forcing you to buy more diapers sooner than you should have to - therefore sucking your bank account dry!

Huggies - I like Huggies. But only Huggies Baby Shaped. Ultratrim is very stiff. Who cares if the baby's diaper is trim or puffy. It's a diaper! It's not like I need to pretend my son is in underwear - he's 7 months old. And what does it matter if you can hear the diaper scrunching with every crawl or step? Anyway, Huggies Baby Shaped is good, but there are cheaper alternatives.

Kirkland Signature
- found at Costco. Just like Huggies (Baby Shaped, of course), but cheaper. I used these for Katelyn after I switched her from Huggies.

Select Exchange
- or is it Exchange Select? These are what military families can buy. We just happen to have a friend who bought us some as a gift after Jacob was born. I like them. Very similar to Huggies (and Kirkland Signature).

Luvs - Practically the same as the Select Exchange diapers, and therefore, very similar to Huggies. I like them. No leaks. Even with extended use. Cheaper than Kirkland Signature.

Drypers - I refused to try these for a long time until my budget forced me to last week. Not bad. Kind of a cross between Luvs and Select Exchange. Leaked once over night. A little poofier than Luvs.

At Sara Market on Saipan, the price per diaper of Luvs size 5 and the price per diaper of Drypers size XL are the same.

I buy Luvs. Even if James and I made more money and could afford to regularly buy Pampers or Huggies, I'd still just buy Luvs.

I'm tired.

My head is killing me.
My husband is on a plane bound for Los Angeles.
And the price of gas keeps going up.
~~~
Why, my fellow bank customers,
must we all squish together,
invading one another's personal space,
when there are only six of us,
in a line
made for twenty?
~~~

Why are there no trash cans at Afetna?
Neither outside nor in?
Why did I pick up someone else's trash
and carry it into my car?
I was only there to pick up a check.
It's because I care.
~~~
Oh, Camera,
Here, a companion for you.
Clear masking tape.
I'm sorry I forced duct tape on you.
You were upset.
But I didn't notice.
A phone!
5 points to Bigsoxfan!
2 points each to Bruce, Mona, The Saipan Blogger, Boni, and Hope.
I realized once the quesses started coming in that it could easily be seen as either a cordless phone or a cell phone - so anyone with the word "phone" in their answer won.
Now that's comedy
David and some others are going to start up the Saipan Comedy Players - or whatever else they decide to call themselves. I wonder if there are any age restrictions on joining the group. Katelyn is not only a genius with the crayon, she is also a comedic master!
(singing) "...jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh. Poop!"
"You're snot going to the store, mama?"
"This is your cereal. Poop!"
"I'm snot jumping."
"I'm snot going to push the stroller. Poop!"
"Jacob, we're snot going outside."
"Can I have my care bear? Poop! I just want to play with my care bear."
How did my dainty little two year old daughter learn that adding the word "poop" at the end of a sentence is funny? And when is she going to start saying "not" instead of "snot"?
Having been embarrassed once already from Katelyn stating loudly, "I don't want to pray" while in the middle of prayer at church, I was a little worried last Sunday that she would, at the most innapropriate of times, call out "poop!"
I could just imagine it...
Pastor: Does anyone have any praise items today?
Katelyn: I don't want to pray. Poop!
